Fuse Board Upgrade
18TH EDITION CONSUMER UNITS
Modern protection for your home
At K-Electric, we install 18th Edition consumer units as standard, providing modern protection in line with the latest BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.
Every installation includes:
Steel, non-combustible enclosure for enhanced fire protection
100A double-pole main switch to isolate the entire installation
Surge Protection Device (SPD) to help protect sensitive electronics from voltage surges
Individual 30mA RCD protection (RCBO) for every circuit
Individual RCBOs provide a major advantage over traditional dual-RCD consumer units. A fault on one circuit is isolated, making the system easier to use and faults easier to identify.
UPGRADING YOUR OLD CONSUMER UNIT
Replacing an old fuse box isn’t simply a case of fitting a new consumer unit. Older wiring may require attention before modern RCD protection can be introduced.
We recommend starting with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). This assesses the condition of the existing installation and identifies any issues that may need addressing.
An older installation isn’t necessarily unsafe simply because it doesn’t meet today’s regulations — installations are generally assessed against the standards applicable when they were installed.
If you’re considering an upgrade, K-Electric can assess your existing installation and recommend the right solution, with professional installation, testing and certification included.
